Permissions: what an interpreter can be offered

Permissions decide what IMP offers each interpreter: how they work, their language pairs, and the specialized types for each pair. New interpreters start with no specialized types, so they only get general jobs until you turn some on.

What the video says

If a new interpreter isn't getting offers, this is almost always why.

  1. Permissions decide which jobs IMP will offer each interpreter.
  2. There are two parts. The first is how they work: onsite, scheduled video, scheduled phone, or a client's own platform. Turn on only what they're set up for.
  3. If you run on-demand video or phone calls, this is also where you decide who can go online for them.
  4. The second part is their languages. Each language pair is added here, and the languages on their profile follow from it.
  5. Each pair has its own specialized types: medical, legal, education, and the others. New interpreters start with none turned on, so IMP only offers them general jobs until you turn some on.
  6. On a medical job, for example, IMP only suggests interpreters who have medical turned on. You can still offer the job to anyone yourself. IMP just won't do it for you.
  7. When an interpreter says they aren't seeing jobs, check three things here: how they work, their languages, and their specialized types.
