IMP is the only interpreter management platform created by people who are simultaneously consumers, providers, and operators of interpreting services. We didn't study this industry — we live it.
IMP is different. It was built inside a working interpreting agency — Frederick Interpreting Agency, a Deaf-owned company founded in 2017 in Frederick, Maryland. Every feature in the platform was born from real operational need, not a product roadmap drafted in a conference room.
Our founder, Ethan Kramer, is Deaf. He doesn't just run an agency — he's a consumer of the very services his company provides. He knows what it's like to wait for an interpreter. He knows what it's like to manage 400+ of them. And he knows exactly where legacy platforms fall short, because he's been on every side of the equation.
The team behind IMP includes certified interpreters, Deaf and hard-of-hearing professionals, and agency operations staff. This isn't theoretical knowledge. Every scheduling edge case, every billing quirk, every notification that needs to fire at the right moment — we've encountered it ourselves, running real appointments for real people.
IMP exists because the interpreting industry deserves software built by people who understand it completely — not approximately.
We started building IMP to replace the tools we were using to run our own agency. It worked so well that we realized every interpreting agency deserves access to something this purpose-built. So we made it available to all of them.
Our team brings every angle of the interpreting experience into the product.
As Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, we rely on interpreting services in our own lives. We know what good access looks like — and what happens when it breaks down.
Our team includes NIC-certified interpreters who work in healthcare, legal, and education settings daily. The interpreter portal was built by the people who use it.
We run a 400+ interpreter agency serving 150+ clients. Every workflow in IMP was stress-tested on real jobs before it shipped.
Ethan grew up in Frederick County, Maryland, attending the Maryland School for the Deaf. He went on to earn degrees from Gallaudet University and the Rochester Institute of Technology — two of the most prominent institutions for Deaf education in the world.
In 2017, he founded Frederick Interpreting Agency with a vision rooted in firsthand experience: build an agency that truly understands communication access because its leadership lives it every day. FIA has since grown into a regional leader with 400+ interpreters, 150+ active clients, and services spanning ASL, 60+ spoken languages, VRI, OPI, CART, and document translation.
IMP is the platform Ethan built to run FIA — and now it's available to every interpreting agency that's ready for modern tools built by people who actually understand the work.
FIA is a Deaf-owned interpreting and translation company serving healthcare, education, legal, government, and business clients throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia, and nationwide. IMP is the technology that powers our operations — and now yours.
Every feature exists because we needed it to run real jobs. If it's in IMP, it's been battle-tested on actual appointments.
Your data, your workflows, your platform. IMP gives agencies full ownership and control over their operations.
We ship fast and iterate based on what real agencies tell us. No bloated release cycles or features nobody asked for.
Being Deaf-owned means we build with the communities we serve, not just for them. That perspective is embedded in every decision.
Powerful features shouldn't require a training manual. IMP is built so your team can start using it on day one.
No hidden fees, no per-minute charges, no black boxes. What you see is what you get — in pricing, features, and roadmap.
